Our Team

Constantinos Hadjistassou is a Naval Architect & Marine Engineer, with expertise in Offshore Oil & Gas, and a board member of Tropida Marine. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a member (MRINA) of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), UK. 

As an Expert Investigator, Constantinos investigates marine accidents and fire incidents onboard ships, powerboats and sailing yachts for the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK). Professional experience includes working as an Engineer Superintendent on behalf of the supermajor oil and gas companies such as Mobil-Exxon, BP, Petrolina, and Hellenic Petroleum.

Constantinos previously held the position of Marine Surveyor, at the Cyprus Department of Merchant Shipping, while more recently he has worked as a Loading Master onboard oil tankers, product carriers, and gas carriers. During his post-graduate studies, Constantinos has written a thesis on high-speed planing craft which examined the phenomenon of porpoising [pdf, 136 KB] (coupled heave and pitch oscillation). He has also researched marine environmental matters [pdf, 70 KB] including marine coating systems, ship recycling, double hull tankers, and marine environmental policy.

Particularly fond of the marine environment Constantinos is an avid sailing yachtsman and a licensed high-speed power boat operator (>15 knots). Below the waterline he enjoys scuba diving (trainee second star, CMAS) and snorkelling. Constantinos holds a BEng (First Class; 2002) in Marine Technology and a Master’s in Engineering from the University of Newcastle, UK. Subsequently, he completed a Master’s degree in Ocean Systems from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, and a doctorate in Engineering Science, with specialisation in computational modelling,  from the University of Oxford, UK. Modestos Hadjistassou is a Naval Architect & Mechanical Engineer and Energy Expert. He is a partner at Tropida Marine and a junior member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), UK. Modestos maintains a keen interest in marine hydrodynamics, offshore renewable energy and green shipping. Previous experience involves designing small marine craft such as power boats and ocean-going vessels.

A tech savvy engineer Modestos is well versed in engineering modelling and simulation, such as the finite volume method, and computer aided design (CAD) and manufacturing (CAM). Past projects involved conducting a feasibility study for the Limassol marina and investigating environmental matters such as marine pollution and mitigation strategies. Is his spare time, Modestos enjoys swimming, chess, and travelling. Modestos has an educational background (MS diploma) in Marine Technology and Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. Konstantinos Argyrou is a Naval Architect and merchant marine officer with a wealth of experience related to the maritime industry. As a site manager and marine surveyor for the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) he has supervised the construction of bulk carriers in South Korean and Chinese shipyards. Konstantinos possesses seagoing experience as deck officer onboard reefers and crude oil carriers. His practical experience transcends matters from Protection & Indemnity (P&I) to the International Safety Management (ISM) and the International Ship and Port Facility Safety (ISPS) Codes. He is an associate member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), UK.

Konstantinos holds a Masters in Marine Technology and a BEng in Naval Architecture both from the University of Newcastle, UK. He is also a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy of Oinousses, Greece, where he completed the Diploma in Nautical Science. To contact Konstantinos click here.
